Warrior Challengers arrive at Balfour Beatty’s Langley head office

29 June 2017

UK

Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, is committed to supporting all aspects of Defence: Regular, Reservist and Veteran alike. Having been awarded a silver award at the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme last year, the company has continued its momentum by sponsoring the ‘Warrior Challenge’, a fundraising event for the Army Benevolent Fund and Style for Soldiers.

The Warrior Challenge honours the memory of six men who lost their lives when their armoured vehicle was caught in an explosion while serving in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan. On completion, Challengers Andy Reid and Glen Hughes, both veterans of the Afghan War, will have cycled and kayaked a total distance of 600 miles through the home towns of their six colleagues.

Yesterday, Andy and Glen arrived at Balfour Beatty’s head office in Langley on the penultimate leg of their 14-day challenge to meet with Leo Quinn, Group Chief Executive of Balfour Beatty, and numerous other employees to raise awareness of the challenge and further promote the good work the company is doing to support Armed Forces.

Balfour Beatty continues to expand and develop its Armed Forces Forum, which focuses on the recruitment, retention, development and support for the Armed Forces community, with numerous initiatives being implemented across the UK.
